Today, August 24th, 2026, is the 10-year anniversary of Obduction!

Obduction is an award-winning puzzle-adventure game and spiritual successor to Myst. It was developed by the team at Cyan, and originally released on August 24th, 2016.

Obduction was Cyan’s first crowdfunded project. The project achieved its funding goal in November 2013. Development on the game commenced soon after, with its release following approximately two and a half years later.

To help celebrate this anniversary, some members of the original Obduction team (Eric A. Anderson, Karl Johnson, and Hannah Gamiel) came together recently to do a retrospective on it, which you can find a recording of here.
