Q: Will Kickstarter backers get exclusive access or discounts to this re-sale?

A: Although the sale will go live for everyone at once, Myst 25th Anniversary Edition backers at the Bookmaker tier and higher will be notified of an exclusive one-time discount to use for the first two weeks of the sale. If you were a Kickstarter backer at this tier, you can find your discount code as a part of a private update sent to your reward tier through Kickstarter’s updates for the Myst 25th Anniversary Edition Campaign.

Q: Wasn’t the Kickstarter supposed to be the first and only time the Linking Books and Gehn’s Inkwell would be manufactured?

A: This is true, and this re-sale is a selling off of remaining stock that Cyan had on-site from this Kickstarter. There were not any new units manufactured since the Kickstarter, and there are no plans to have future re-sales of this remaining stock.

Q: Why is the re-sale value of the Linking Books so much higher than what I originally paid for my reward in the Kickstarter?

A: Due to limited stock out in the wild, the Linking Books (and Gehn’s inkwell) are extremely coveted in our community and have been sold at higher prices on other marketplaces. Additionally, we strongly believe that no price for the books as a part of this re-sale should fall at or below what our Myst 25th Anniversary backers paid for in the first place. We believe the prices we’ve set on the re-sale are fair both to our previous backers and to newly interested folks based on the remaining supply we have.

Q: I see that you’ve made available a signed version of the Linking Book by Rand Miller with the “Writer” variant. Can I get my book from the Kickstarter Campaign signed too if I send it in?

A: As much as we’d love to be able to do this, Rand has been retired for a while now and this was a very rare opportunity for him to do for this re-sale. Therefore, we are unfortunately not able to have Rand sign and send back any previously purchased Linking Books from the Kickstarter campaign or third-party marketplaces. If you wish to have Rand sign your linking book or other Myst gear in the future, please keep an eye out for any event opportunities in the future where Rand will be present, as he is often available to sign things during those events.

Q: Does this re-sale mean that Cyan is able to use remaining stock to replace my Linking Book, OR does this mean that if I never provided proper shipping info for my backer information originally that I can contact Cyan to get my reward after 7 years?

A: Cyan stopped receiving and processing backer claim issues for the Myst 25th Anniversary Books approximately 5 years following the end of the campaign. Please see our FAQ here for when claims ended.

Q: Why aren’t the physical discs for the Myst series available as a part of this re-sale like they were for the Kickstarter Campaign?

A: We no longer have a large enough stock of the physical discs of the Myst games to include with each book as a part of the re-sale.
