Myst crashes during play or closes before the menu, sometimes shows an error message

Myst launches, sometimes plays ok for a while, sometimes just gets through the opening logo animation, sometimes just closes, and sometimes this Error message appears:
“Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting…”
We’ve found some newer Intel CPUs have the problem detailed here (source article: https://www.radgametools.com/oodleintel.htm).
“RAD has become aware of a problem that can cause Oodle Data decompression failures, or crashes in games built with Unreal. We believe that this is a hardware problem which affects primarily Intel 13900K and 14900K processors, less likely 13700, 14700 and other related processors as well. Only a small fraction of those processors will exhibit this behavior. The problem seems to be caused by a combination of BIOS settings and the high clock rates and power usage of these processors, leading to system instability and unpredictable behavior under heavy load.”
Online forum posts about this say the problem exhibits itself as the behavior and/or error message above.
Until an in-engine fix for the issue is found, please try the workarounds detailed in the RAD article linked here.
UPDATE: Intel has released a statement regarding the issue. Here’s the link to the statement: https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/July-2024-Update-on-Instability-Reports-on-Intel-Core-13th-and/m-p/1617113#M74792
