Myst crashes with this message: “Failed to wait on acquired swapchain image. This usually indicates a problem with the OpenXR runtime.” How do I fix this?

This error can occur in a couple different circumstances depending on the headset you are using.
This issue is generally resolved by making the runtime adjustments noted below.
If you are using a Quest 2 or 3 linked to a PC, please try the following:
- Open the Meta Quest Link app on your PC
- Navigate to Settings > General
- In the OpenXR Runtime setting, click “Set Meta Quest Link as act…”
This can also happen with a Vive Pro headset while a certain plugin is turned off in SteamVR.
If you are using a Vive Pro headset on PC, please try the following:
- Open SteamVR on the desktop
- Access the settings through the hamburger menu at the top of the small SteamVR window
- In the settings window, go down to the OpenXR tab
- In the OpenXR tab, click “Manage OpenXR API Layers”
- Turn “ViveVR OpenXR SRWorks” on.
If you’re playing on a Valve Index and encounter crashes, please enter the game menu and choose “Hide Vehicle Transitions” in the settings. This may help get through the crash area.
If the issue continues to happen after using the workarounds above, or you are seeing this on a different headset, please email [email protected] to provide the details of your specific setup. Thank you!
